Ternopil celebrated Independence Day with the contest for the best embroidery and body-art.
On 24th August all people who were walking down the central pathways of Topilche park were invited to a common celebration. The smallest Ternopil citizens participated in chalk drawing on the pavement in the contest “Happy Ukraine”. Ukrainian embroidery fans competed for the best embroidery in the photographic contest “My embroidery-shirt”. The owners of the top five embroideries were awarded with Ukrainian diplomas and gifts. The jury also determined two winners in the nomination "Audience Award Vyshyvanka”.
Anyone wishing could try themselves in the national karaoke, backgammon, chess or checkers, archery or arbalest and enjoy watching Ukrainian movies. Such movies as "Iron hundred", "Ukraine. Birth of a Nation" were broadcasted in a special tent.
But the raisin of the holiday was body art. The art-master Anna painted more than fifty kids and adults.
Also, the organizers conducted a survey to determine public history knowledge of independent Ukraine. The results of this survey proved that all respondents to the question "Do you support Ukraine independence today," responded positively, but only 20% of them believe our country is completely independent. 35% of respondents perceive the Independence Day as normal holiday, for the half of respondents it was a problem to remember the date of the proclamation of the Constitution of Ukraine and more than 78% did not provide a date for the referendum in support of independence.
The feature of event was the guest book, in which everyone could leave a written greeting to Ukraine on its Independence Day!
"We congratulate each other on our birthday; we wish the best for the Angels day, celebrate our little sweet moments. Today, everyone had an opportunity to congratulate our country, our Ukraine! We expect that this symbolic guest book in Ukraine Independence Day will be filled every year, and the lines written in it will be implemented a mandatory ", - the organizer of the celebration of Anastasia said.
The event for Ternopil inhabitants and visitors was organized by Ternopil regional branch of All- Ukrainian Youth Public Organization "Democratic Alliance" and Ternopil city youth organization Association of Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Youth "Friendship".
