Annual camp of Democratic Alliance “Country of responsibility” was held on August 9th-15th in the suburbs of Kyiv with the support of Konrad Adenauer Foundation. For the third time already members of the organization had an opportunity to simulate state governance for several days just in the open air. This year the participants of the camp tried to recreate municipal government in Ukraine.
The program of the camp foresaw studies of bases of local self-government and realization of gained knowledge within the context of simulation game. Experienced trainers from Institute of civil society, namely: Anatolii Tkachuk, Oleksandr Vrublevskii and Yurij Ganushak, told about key features of local self-government functioning in Ukraine. The expert of Konrad Adenauer Foundation – Virginia Dronova, made a lecture about European experience and principle of subsidiary in local self-government. After two days of informative lectures participants tested their knowledge in a game.
The scenario of the game foresaw dividing of participants into teams, which carried out governance of Ukrainian cities. During three days every team adopted decisions, worked out the programs of development, approved the budget. This process was accompanied by permanent activity of press-services which lighted up work of the team. A game was very close to reality, as most decisions of every team were like real. The participants will apply gained knowledge and experience on the local level, where young people will actively influence policy.
