Ukrainian issue and its place in Europe became topical especially after the Presidential elections in February 2010; more and more often controversial news from Ukraine are reported by European mass-media. That is why this year CDJA (Christian Democratic Youth Appeal) chose our country for their traditional Summer school which was organized form 1st till 8th August in order to get acquainted with our political situation themselves and discuss urgent issues with Ukrainian politically active youth.
Our guests from the Netherlands received even too warm welcome in Ukraine +35+40оС :)
The program of the visit consisted of two parts. During the first one representatives of CDJA had different meetings with Ukrainian and foreign experts, public figures, visited Ukrainian Parliament and surely just walked round the ancient streets of Kyiv and got acquainted with our culture and traditions.
The second part foresaw joint trainings with Democratic Alliance and Young Rukh (YEPP member-organizations) and Batkivshina moloda.Democratic Alliance was represented by the members of International Secretariat, Heads and Board members of regional branches from all over Ukraine. The Summer school started with acquaintance of participants and presentations of their organizations. Ex-Chairman of CDJA Harry van der Molen made a very interesting and informative presentation of the organization which has a long history and is a founding member of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP). Ex-Board member of CDJA Janneke Beumer conducted lecture-discussion on EU enlargement and also moderated the workshop on political debates. There were both serious and funny statements which provoked vivid discussions and raised spirit of participants.
Also such lecture-discussions as preconditions of NATO accession, democratization and election campaigning were conducted.
After the lectures participants discussed the most urgent issues and on the basis of this discussion International Secretary of CDJA Frank Lambermont and representatives of Democratic Alliance and Young Rukh worked out resolution which will be presented at the next YEPP seminar.
We deeply appreciate the given opportunity to participate in this Summer school and hope for further fruitful cooperation between our sister-organizations.
