In the context of the International initiative “Let’s do it world!” Democratic Alliance in cooperation with other Kyiv public organizations realized the project “Let’s do it Kyiv!”. On Saturday June 5th, 2010 on World Environment Day from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. the large-scale cleaning of Kyiv was held in all 10 districts of the city. About 1 thousand activists – Kyiv citizens, representatives of public organizations, journalists – cleaned 25 biggest parks of the capital.

 The aim of the action was to raise citizens’ feeling of personal responsibility for Kyiv cleaness. Through informative-enlightening campaign and spreading of international experience infrom every citizen that he/she can make a contribution to cleaness and beauty of the city. The action “Let’s do it Kyiv” which has not only ecologic, social and economical effect is the first step in realization of the long-term project “Let’s do it Ukraine” which is aimed at harmonizing relations between people and nature, making life in clean and cultural country fashionable, overcoming consumer attitude to environment, adopting sorting and collecting garbage

Also on this day about 500 appeals to Kiyv city state administration with demand to conduct enlightening campaign, fine those who litter and organize effective system of sorting and collecting garbage were signed.

Thus the activists wanted to raise not only citizens’ consciousness but also authorities’ one, pointing out drawbacks and aspects which should be improved.

So, the participants collected and sorted out garbage in 25 parks of the capital. The idea of such action aroused interest both in students and older people who were happy to help clean the city. So, next year we are waiting for a greater number of activists who are ready to spend several hours on cleaning of the city.
