“POLICE IS “OUTLAWED ”, Kyiv.

On June 4th near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine public organizations conducted protest action against the police willfulness “POLICE IS “OUTLAWED ”.

The participants of the event demanded from the administration of the MIA to call to account those policemen who during the last period of time illegally broke up peaceful protest actions in Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv, arrested their participants and beat them.

“During first 100 days of Yanukovich in power Ukrainians felt oppression of their civil rights and freedoms, particularly right for peaceful meetings. For a short period of time public fixed numerous violations of citizens’ constitutional rights for peaceful meetings by the police. And guilty go unpunished” – Chairman of Democratic Alliance Vasyl Gatsko said.

“Only 100 Days ago we watched with sympathy how peaceful demonstrations were cruelly broken up in Russia. Things that we saw in Moscow and Sankt-Petersburg can be seen in Kyiv and Kharkiv today. Improvement of relations with Russia which is done by the present regime is for some reason accompanied by synchronization of rights and freedoms of both countries. And for Ukraine it means their limitation” – he added.

The participants of the action chanted: “We have the right to assemble”, “POLICE IS “OUTLAWED ”, “NO to willfulness”, “Learn law”, “Serve people of Ukraine”. Though there was no answer from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. No representative of the Ministry came to them.

At the end of the event the participants promised to return if their demands are not realized!
